    And then there’s the ones I watched out for. She would start at the top—she was buying for a special occasion, after all. Then she’d grimace in the mirror and put the piece back on the polystyrene head. Try another and sigh, her shoulders slumping a tad as she moved down to a lower shelf. And perhaps a level down again. It was heart-breaking to watch a woman be so keen to stand out, yet afraid to be seen.
