Bio:

David R. Flores, aka Sic Monkie, is a writer-illustrator based in Los Angeles, California. He is the co-creator and illustrator of The InSpectres, an upcoming, two volume graphic novel that will be published by Blue Fox Comics this year.

Statement:

I love the potential of art telling a story in an instant. Much of my inspiration comes from artists often featured in The New Yorker, like Adrian Tomine, R Kikuo Johnson, and Chris Ware. Jaime Hernandez, co-creator of Love and Rockets, is another storyteller that I greatly admire. My aspiration is to create images that evoke introspection and with the occasional smile.
